Vic: Two men aboard missing ultralight aircraft

MELBOURNE, Dec 7 AAP - An ultralight aircraft with two men on board is missing in northern
Victoria.

The aircraft took off from the airport at Yarrawonga on the Murray River about 280km
northeast of Melbourne around 6.30pm (AEDT) on Sunday.

The men intended to fly around the Yarrawonga area and return to the airport at about
9pm, but haven't been seen since, police say.

Victoria Police spokesman Senior Constable Adam West says police and the Australian
Maritime Safety Authority "hold serious concerns" for the missing men, a Yarrawonga man
aged 58 and a man from Lightning Ridge in northwestern NSW thought to be aged in his 50s.

"Police wish to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen the plane flying in the
Yarrawonga area last night," he said.

Police have begun searching for the aircraft, which is described as a two-seater with
an open cockpit and the registration number 32-4391, and the Victoria Police air wing
and search and rescue squad will join the search on Monday.
