NSW: Gang rapist expresses remorse
A court's been told a gang rapist who's pleaded guilty over sexual assaults on fourwomen, has expressed remorse and will receive a reduced sentence.
The 19-year-old man, who cannot be named, is facing sentencing proceedings in the NSWDistrict court today.
He has pleaded guilty to the gang rapes of three teenage girls in Sydney's west andsexually assaulting a 14-year-old on a train in August 2000.
Judge MICHAEL FINNANE said the man will receive a lesser sentence than other gang rapistsconvicted after a trial because he pleaded guilty and has expressed remorse.
Judge FINNANE said the man has saved the victims the trauma of having to give evidencein a trial.
The prosecution will apply to have the man's name released.
The sentencing hearing is continuing.
