Vic: Logging trucks surround Vic Parliament House
MELBOURNE, Feb 28 AAP - About 150 logging trucks surrounded the Victorian parliamentthis morning to protest against proposed changes in logging regulations by the Victoriangovernment.
The forest industry has declared a 24 hour stoppage and several hundred timber workerswill march to the steps of Parliament House at 10am.
The Bracks government last week announced it would cut logging by 30 per cent acrossthe state and up to 80 per cent in some areas. It also put up an $80 million rescue packageto aid timber workers and communities.
